Tesla is asking some of its suppliers for cash back, reports The Wall Street Journal. The company says it needs the cash to help it become profitable, describing the move in a memo as essential to continued operations. Tesla declined to comment but confirmed it’s seeking a price reduction from suppliers. The company recently shed 9% of its workforce amid efforts to reach profitability.

Schnatter, who says he regrets resigning, remains a director and holds a 29% stake in the company.
