A strong economy and healthy consumer spending are leading companies to raise prices, and, as the biggest player in its field, P&G “tends to drive industry-wide pricing moves.”

CBS-Viacom merger saga continues: In a court filing, CBS alleged Vice Chairman Shari Redstone tried to oust a board member who secretly recorded her ailing father, Chairman Emeritus Sumner Redstone. The filing says Mr. Redstone should be be deposed in the case because of his declining state. The Redstones’ National Amusements has a nearly 80% voting stake in CBS, which the network would like reduced to 20%. On Monday, CBS’ board moved to investigate sexual harassment claims against CEO Les Moonves.

Other major firms, including Unilever, Procter & Gamble and Nestlé, have set deadlines for finding greener product alternatives.
